Tripods & Mounts: Red Oak Parallogram Mount

The Burgess Optical Red Oak Mount is a parallelogram binocular mount suitable for binoculars with up to 80mm objectives, possibly larger if the binos are the lightweight variety. The Red Oak Mount allows easy adjustment of the binocular height, both for sharing thge binoculars with others and for maintaining the same eyepiece elevation relative to ground when viewing objects at different altitudes.

The Red Oak Mount comes in two binocular attachment configurations:

Z-Bracket for mounting binoculars with a 1/4"x20 female threaded opening in the center pivot.	1/4"x20 male thread for securing a vertical post on big binoculars

Below the binocular attachment is the altitude adjust knob. While holding the binoculars, loosen the knob and adjust the binoculars so that they are pointing higher or lower in the sky. The Red Oak Mount does not have an azimuth adjustment. It must be used in conjunction with a tripod with an azimuth head, such as the Red Oak Tripod. It will also work with a photo head on a photo tripod, using the standard 1/4"x20 screw to attach the Red Oak Mount to the photo head.

The above picture shows the Red Oak Mount on a photo tripod with Burgess Optical 20x80LW binoculars and a MRF^TM finder on the Z-Bracket.

If you purchase the MRF^TM finder, the universal base included with the finder screws into the top of the Z-Bracket after the existing dovetail base is removed.
