12-17-05 Burgess Optical announces that the first production unit of the 5mm Planetary Eyepiece has passed Thomas Back's stringent tests and will be available for shipping in a few weeks. Contact a Burgess Optical Dealer or Burgess Optical directly to pre-order yours. The 4 and 9mm Planetary eyepieces are still in stock. The 6mm Planetary eyepiece is available, but the stock is very limited. We also have some remaining Garage Sale Ultra Wide Angle 11mm 80 degree FOV eyepieces.
12-17-05 Burgess Optical has received new retaining rings to correct the flaring problem with the Planetary Eyepieces. From this point on, all Planetary Eyepieces will be shipped with the new retaining rings. Those who have already purchased a Planetary eyepiece will receive a free replacement retainer ring. 12-12-05 Burgess Optical announces a new telephone number, exclusively for ordering Burgess Optical equipment. The added telephone number will enable Burgess Optical to be more responsive to its customers. 12-12-05 Burgess Optical has the Vixen/Orion style dovetail bases for the MRF in stock. This is a low-profile mounting system for the MRF.
12-09-05 Burgess Optical announces a December Sale on their Binoviewers! While supplies last, buy the base Model C binoviewer for $139. At this price, the Binoviewer does not include eyepieces, which are available separately. If you wish to purchase eyepieces, the binoviewer is available at the regular price of $199, and that includes a pair of 20mm Bino-Lite eyepieces.
12-09-05 Burgess Optical is moving into a new facility in Knoxville, Tennessee. The larger facility will enable Burgess Optical to be more responsive to its customers. See the Contact Us page for the new address.
12-07-05 On January 21, 2006, Burgess Optical will be in Boiling Springs, NC, at BobFest, which is the 14th Annual Regional Meeting of Amateur Astronomers conducted by Cleveland County Astronomical Society.
11-20-05 Burgess Optical has a 7x50 straight-thru finder in stock and ready for shipping! At an introductory price of $25, the finder is a good replacement for the small finder that often is supplied with new scopes. The finder is fully coated with cross-hairs. A mounting bracket is available separately.
2" Dielectric Diagonal10-30-05 Burgess Optical has a 2" Dielectric Diagonal in stock and ready for shipping! The Dielectric Diaonals have 1/10th wave surface accuracy with 99% reflectivity! Includes a 1-1/4" adapter. Available in both 2" barrel and standard SCT connections. A real BARGAIN at $99.
10-30-05 Burgess Optical will be at the Mid-South Star Party the weekend of November 5.
10-21-05 Burgess Optical has received the 4mm Planetary eyepieces and will be shipping them out after they are inspected.

10-11-05 Burgess Optical will be at the Bays Mountain StarFest on October 22 & 23 at Bays Mountain in East Tennessee.

09-18-05 Burgess Optical will be at Scope Out 2005 Astronomy Fair sponsored by Cincinnati Observatory Center and the Friends of the Observatory in Cincinnati, Ohio, on September 24. Following that, Burgess Optical will be at the Tennessee Star Party on October 7 to 9.
2" Collimatable Pyrex Mirror Dielectric Coating Diagonal08-31-05 TMB Optical introduces their new, patent pending collimatable diagonal with a dielectric coated, 1/10th wave Pyrex mirror. Burgess Optical and Thomas Back will be showing this diagonal at the Black Forest Star Party in Cherry Springs State Park, Pennsylvania on September 2 and 3.

3x 1-1/4" ED Barlow2x 2" ED Barlow08-31-05 Burgess Optical introduces their new line of ED Barlows. The 22 is a 2" 2x Barlow with apochromatic performance. The 3x is a 1-1/4" Barlow, also with apochromatic performance.

08-26-05 Burgess Optical is inspecting the 9mm Planetary eyepieces and preparing to ship them out to our dealers and customers who have pre-ordered the eyepieces.

2" prism diagonal08-24-05 The 2" 90 degree prism diagonals have sold out! They are now on backorder.

1-1/4" 45 degree prism diagonal08-21-05 Burgess Optical has a limited supply of 1-1/4" 45degree prism diagonals and 2" 90 degree prism diagonals. These prism diagonals offer correct image views. The prism surfaces in these diagonals are broadband coated to minimize reflections and maximize transmission.

08-03-05 Burgess Optical is shipping lens cap covers to the purchasers of the 70mm mak scope. If you bought a scope and have not received a cap by mid-August, please contact us. If you have moved since you bought your scope, please contact us to update your shipping address.

07-27-05 Burgess Optical will be at the Black Forest Star Party in Cherry Springs State Park, Pennsylvania on September 2 and 3. Both Bill Burgess and Thomas Back plan on attending the BFSP.

08-03-05 The Burgess Optical representative for the Nebraska Star Party (J uly 31st to August 5th, 2005) was not able to attend.

07-25-05 We have received 700 Binoviewers. As soon as they are checked out, they will be sent to our dealers and those customers that have ordered them.

07-23-05 Our 8x50 Right-Angle, Correct Image Finders, 2" Extensions, and GSO Filters have been selling so quickly, we sold all the stock we had in hand. We expect to have additional stock of these items in a week or so. We have updated the Availability page to reflect that these items are currently Back Ordered.

07-17-05 Burgess Optical is now carrying the line of GSO Filters. There are 14 different colors available individually or as a complete set. See the planets as you have never seen them before!
07-17-05 Burgess Optical is introducing a line of Crayford Focusers, including a 1-1/4" adapter. The Focusers are available with base plates that fit many refractors. A square baseplate is available for reflectors. We have a limited number of baseplates available, with more coming soon.
07-17-05 Burgess Optical is introducing two sizes of 2" Extensions. The longer Extension adds 80mm to the optical path, and the shorter Extension adds 50mm to the optical path. Great for star testing without a diagonal or when you don't want to rack out your focuser tube too far.

07-17-05 Burgess Optical is having a Garage Sale on their Ultra Wide Angle 11mm 80 degree FOV eyepieces. The 11mm eyepiece is optically a fine eyepiece, it just requires approximately 3/4" of in-travel to reach focus. The field stop is too far in the eyepiece body. The eyepiece tooling is being changed to make the eyepiece parfocal, but the inital production run is available at a deep discount.

07-17-05 Burgess Optical is having a Garage Sale on their 6mm Planetary Eyepieces. These eyepieces are fine eyepieces; however, they do not meet the high standards of Thomas Back. Therefore, they are on sale at a discounted eyepiece.

8x50 Right-Angle, Correct Image Finder07-10-05 Burgess Optical is introducing an 8x50 Right-Angle, Correct Image Finder. Available separately is a two-screw, spring-loaded finder mount that fits the Synta/Orion style bases. The mount comes with a base that can be attached to a scope.

07-09-05 On Friday night and Saturday, Burgess Optical was at the Green Bank Star Quest at Green Bank, West Virginia. While there, Burgess Optical publicly introducing the Planetary Eyepieces, with one given away as a door prize.

2" Diagonal with Enhanced Coatings07-06-05 Burgess Special! We have a limited number of 2" diagonals on sale for $49. These diagonals have enhanced coatings with 92% reflectivity. A 2" to 1-1/4" adapter for the diagonal is available for an additional $5. This sale is limited to stock in hand.

Binoviewer 1.9x OCA06-25-05 The Binoviewer 1.9x Correctors (OCA) are being checked out and being sent to our dealers and to our customers who preordered them. The correctors screw into the nosepiece of most binoviewers.

06-25-05 Construction of the Burgess Optical website continues with the addition of many new pages including eyepiece, mounts, and binocular information.

Over the next few weeks we will be adding content to these pages. We will also strive to ensure that the information contained in these pages is up-to-date. Initially, we will be concentrating on getting the content up-to-date, moreso than having pretty web pages. The pages will be beautified after all the content is added and up-to-date.
